SAK-1 Manual Micro-Dosing Device
The SAK-1 (the name stands for „Swiss Army Knife) is the perfect tool for microdosing powders in the early development phase for Dry Powder Inhalers and all products that require precise dosing of small amount of powders and the transfer of the powder into the receptacle. It can be adapted to any kind of container like hard gelatin capsules, nasal cartridges and application devices. It operates fully manually and does not need any external resources like electricity or compressed air. The device uses the tamping pin dosing method to compact the powder in the same way as industrial micro-dosing machines like drum dosators or tube fillers so upscaling to these machines at a later stage is easy and reliable.
Key features and benefits
- Dosing range: 1 mm³ – 130 mm³
- Accuracy: RSD ≤ 2% for crystalline powders and ≤ 3% for cohesive powders
- Very small amount of powder needed to start dosing; virtually no powder loss
- Emulates established industrial dosing machines
- Integrated dosing and filling
- Dosing Volumes are cheap and readily available
- Easy to operate
Small and lightweight. Can easily be relocated or shipped - Extremely robust construction. No need for maintenance. Low total cost of ownership.
- Output: the device is designed for quantities from a handful of samples as needed e.g. for NGI-tests up to several hundred units. Typically check-weighing takes longer than the dosing process itself. However there have been projects where several thousand units have been made with the SAK-1.
- Time to set up the device: out of the box the device is ready to go in less than 10 minutes
Recommended for universities and development labs where flexibility and simplicity are key. No more need to manually weigh doses or using a contractor for filling trials.
